Adopt-A-Family

Adopt a Family matches a local family in need with a sponsoring family, business, or organization. Families have the opportunity to complete a wish list of possible gift items as well as any clothing needs. 

Nearly 50 families are supported annually by the Waverly-Shell Rock United Way Adopt-A-Family Program including more than 100 kids.

Program Details: 

This program is open to families in Bremer County and Shell Rock. A limited number of families can be adopted annually. You must complete the online application.

Timeline:

• Family Applications accepted through Nov. 15, 2025.
• Family matches made by Nov. 26, 2024 (Prior to Black Friday).
• Gift Drop off: Wednesday, Dec 10, 2025
• Gift Pick Up: Thursday, Dec 11,  2025

My family and I would like thank you (united way), and whoever adopted us, for Christmas. We couldn't get over how they went above and beyond. The shoes and clothes all needed. And my kids liked them all. Great sizes and colors. The dragon Squishmallows was a huge hit.
