The mission of the Caring Assistance Network organization is to coordinate the connections of community resources to individuals and families residing in the greater Waverly area. Caring Assistance Network brings 20+ partnering organizations together whose goal is to connect in-need community members to emergency resources such as rent and utility support, food, and clothing.


We coordinate services for food insecurity, system supports, housing, transportation, personal care, and health/child development. To find out if you are eligible for assistance, call Claire at 319-407-0204 or complete the application below.

2023 BY THE NUMBERS


Under Iowa's winter moratorium law, customers who qualify for LIHEAP (low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) are protected from the shutoff of natural gas or electric service annually from November 1 through April 1.



Since April 1, 2024, the Waverly Caring Assistance Network (CAN) has coordinated cases for over 25 local households avoid utility disconnection.

POSITION TITLE

Community Outreach Specialist (.3FTE-.5FTE)


ACCOUNTABILITY

The Community Outreach Specialist is accountable to the Executive Director.


COLLABORATORS

Waverly Outreach Advisory Board Members and other volunteers, partner agency representatives, local businesses and residents, and the community at large.

CLIENT INTAKE


  • Intake clients and refer to appropriate resources
  • Complete verifications and documentation as needed with landlords/utility company
  • Follow up to ensure timely action on referrals
  • Record/track unmet needs

SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT


  • Facilitate recruitment and training of UniteUs Users
  • Prepare system reports

AWARENESS OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES 

SUPERVISORY DIRECTION RECEIVED

Position works under supervision of the Executive Director. The Waverly Outreach Group provides recommendations and receives regular communication and updates on the scope of work.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and web based platforms required
  • Present a professional image to the community; hold confidentiality in high regard.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, organized and able to work independently effectively.
  • Have a passion for serving others.
